• The United Kingdom officially uses a metric system but it is still common to use the imperial system which is often used for distances.
  • Metric system:
    • Length:
      • Kilometre(km) is equal to 1.000 m.
      • Metre (m) is equal to 100 cm.
      • Centimetre (cm) is equal to 0.01 m
    • Weight:
      • Kilogramme (kg) is equal to 1.000 g.
      • Gram (g) is equal to 0.001 kg.
    • Volume:
      • Litre (l) is equal of 1.000 ml and to one cubic decimetre (10 cm × 10 cm × 10 cm).
      • Millilitre (ml) is equal to 0.001 l.
  • British Imperial system:
    • Length:
      • Mile contains 1.760 yards. It is equal to 1.6 kilometres.
      • Yard (yd) contains 3 feet. It is equal to 91.4 centimetres.
      • Foot (ft) contains 12 inches. It is equal to 30.48 centimetres.
      • Inch (in) equals 2.5 centimetres.
    • Weight:
      • Pound (lb) contains 12 ounces. It is equal to 454 grams.
      • Ounce (oz) equals 28 grams.
    • Volume:
      • Gallon (gal) contains 4 quarts. It is equal to 4.55 l.
      • Quart (qt) contains 2 pints. It is equal to 1.14 l.
      • Pint (pt) is equal to 0.57 l.

Currency

• The British currency is called pound (£), it is also known as GBP - Great British Pound.
• One pound equals 100 pennies (p).
• Notes come in denominations of £5, £10, £20 and £50.
• Coins come in 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2.
