Wh-Questions - Who…?
Syntax
Wh-questions always begin with one of the wh-question words (interrogative pronouns), which show what kind of information is wanted. {see Wh- Questions, A1 Level}
The pronoun who is used to ask for the subject of the action.
The pronoun who is an interrogative pronoun and coincides with the third person and it acts as subject of the sentence.

Who is used to ask the subject of the action.
We introduce wh-questions with interrogative pronouns showing the kind of information that is needed.
To ask for the subject of the action, we usually use the pronoun who. This pronoun coincides with the third person singular, and it acts as subject of the sentence.
For example:
— “Who wants ice cream?” = Who asks about the subject of the action.
