La formazione degli Avverbi
Introduction
Gli avverbi [adverbs] sono espressioni che funzionano come modificatori i altri elementi nella frase. Possono fornire molte informazioni.
Form
Gli avverbi [adverbs] si possono formare dagli aggettivi in base al loro suffisso. I vari casi di formazione degli avverbi sono:
Regolare
- Gli avverbi si formano aggiungendo -ly agli aggettivi.

- Gli aggettivi con il suffisso -y: cambiano in -i prima di aggiungere -ly.

- Se un aggettivo termina in consonante + -le, -e diventa-y.

Friendly e timely sono aggettivi e se li vogliamo usare come avverbi, seguono quste strutture:
- Friendly⇒ in a friendly manner;
- Timely ⇒ in a timely manner.

- He was answering slowly.
Aggettivi con il suffisso -y
- She easily moved to another flat.
Aggettivi che terminano in consonante + -le, -e
- She gently opened the pack of flour.
- You idly ate that tin of tuna.
Aggettivi con suffisso -ic
- They enthusiastically made a jar of marmalade.
Irregolare
- She shyly asked a question.
- We offered her some orange juice in a friendly manner.
Use
Un avverbio [Adverb] é una parola che descrive o da piú informazioni su un verbo, aggettivo, frase o un altro avverbio.
Summary
Gli avverbi [adverbs] sono espressioni che funzionano come modificatori di altri elementi nella frase. Per formare gli avverbi dagli aggettivi sguiamo la regola generale.
Per esempio:
— “Beautiful” ⇒ “I wrapped a box of biscuits beautifully.” = aggiungiamo -ly;
Ci sono alcune eccezioni, in base alla terminazione degli aggettivi.
Per esempio:
— Con il suffisso-y: “Easy“ ⇒ “I can easily drink alcoholic drinks.” = Cambiamo -y in -i e aggiungiamo -ly;
— Consonant + -le: “Noble“ ⇒ “The knight who nobly fought was thirsty.” = Cambiamo -e in -y;
— Con il suffisso -ic: “Drastic“ ⇒ “Steak prices drastically changed.” = Aggiungiamo -ally.
Alcuni avverbi sono irregulari e non c’é una regola precisa per la loro formazione (fully, publicly, in a timely manner…).
Per esempio:
— “Publicly” ⇒ “He publicly continued his speech.”
