The consonant q is a uvular plosive.

Use
Q is a uvular plosive letter, in which the airflow is released all at once, since there needs to be a blocking of air between the tongue and the uvula before.
- q is voiceless, therefore, vocal cords do not vibrate during the articulation of the consonant.
Normally, q is followed by u (qu), but there are some exceptions that recall in words with Arabic origin mostly, although there are no rules to state which ones are the exception.
