Pronouns
Le Prop words, One e Ones, sono usate per evitare ripetizioni.
Quando usiamo le Prop Words, One e Ones, applichiamo la seguente struttura:
one: per un singolare.
ones: per un plurale.
One
- I would like a waffle. Just a small one with some cream and berries, please.
- This novel is better than that one.
- They have a new camera, it’s the one I saw in the newspaper.
Ones
- I really like these drawings, the ones which Peter drew.
- He needs to take new photos of her. The ones that I have taken are too dark.
- They saw new paintings of Joanne, the ones which are at the exhibition.
Usiamo le Prop Words per evitare la ripetizione di una parola che è stata già menzionata.
Usiamo One per i sostantivi singolari e Ones per quelli plurali.
In genere non usiamo One/Ones con gli uncountable.
Usiamo le prop words, one e ones per evitare ripetizioni.
One viene usato per evitare la ripetizione di un singolare (countable), e ones viene usato per evitare la ripetizione di un plurale (countable).
La struttura per usare queste Prop Words è:
- quando abbiamo un singolare, lo cambiamo in one;
- quando abbiamo un plurale, lo cambiamo in ones.
Per esempio:
— “She wants a phone. I want to buy her one soon.” = Singolare.
— “I want to go to museums, especially to the ones that have Ottoman motifs.” = Plurale.
