Suffixes are segments added to the end of words to form a new one. They can change the part of speech of the words. Often the Suffix causes a spelling change to the original word.

Verb suffixes

  • -ance, ence -ism

  • He realized he made a mistake.
  • There are so many poisonous plants in the forest.
  • Atheism means that not to believe any god’s existence.

Suffixes usually give totally different meaning to the word. We can use Suffixes to create new words or to make that word grammatically fit into the sentence.
