With tenses of the auxiliary verb ‘to be’ and the past participle of the main verb we can form Passive verbs. When we use a verb in Passive Form, the subject undergoes the action rather than doing it.
The structure is as follows:
Object + be + verb (past participle) + complement.
| TENSE | SUBJECT | AUXILIARY SINGULAR | AUXILIARY PLURAL | PAST PARTICIPLE |
| Present Simple | The book/ books | is | are | written |
| Present Perfect | The book/ books | has been | have been | written |
| Past Simple | The book/ books | was | were | written |

There are some rules while we create a sentence in Passive form:
- To write passive sentences the object of the active sentence becomes the subject of passive sentence;
- The verb is changed from finite form to passive form (to be+ past participle);
- The subject of the active sentence is dropped in passive sentence, or it becomes the object.
- I had been converted into buddhism then I moved to Nepal.
- She must wear helmet in the construction area. > Helmets must be worn in the construction area.
- We completed the project on time. > The project was completed on time.
You can see the difference between Active and Passive forms below:
