Adverbs - Attitudinal Adverbs
Adverbs are expressions that function as modifiers of other elements in the clause. They can provide a wide range of information. {see Adverbs – Frequency, A1 Level}
Attitude Adverbs express the writer’s attitude towards his or her topic. Attitude Adverbs are genereally used to refer whole sentences not to small phrases or words.
Here are the common Attitude Adverbs:

The position of Attitude Verbs is quite flexible. We can use them:
- In the beginning of the sentences;
- At the end of the sentences;
- Before a verb.
- Frankly, I feel tired so I don’t want to come with you.
- Doctors healed the wound of patient, fortunately.
- Hopefully, side effects of the pill was weak.
Attitude Verbs give us information about how the speaker feels about that situation.
Most of Attitude Verbs can function as Manner Adverbs too; it depends on how Adverb is used in the sentence.
