14 Determiners - Some

Determiners are modifiers of nouns. They can provide a wide range of information. Determiner words are put before a noun to show what the noun refers to.

Determiner, Some can be used with both plural and singular nouns.

We can use Some both with Countable and Uncountable nouns.

  • Some temporary worker is calling for you.
  • When Robert saw his expenses he said: “There must be some mistake”.
  • Amanda is in some kind of trouble. That is why she couldn’t fulfill the task.

Some has slightly different meanings depending on whether it is used with a Singular or Plural noun;

  • When we use Some with Plural Nouns we know that there are many things but we don’t know the exact number
  • When we use Some with Singular Nouns we know that something exists but we don’t have much knowledge about its identity.
