59 Emphatic Imperative
Imperative Clauses are used when people tell someone to do something (an advice, a suggestion, a request, a command etc.).
Emphatic Imperatives are used for polite request mostly.
We can make Emphatic Imperatives with do + infinitive.
- All people please do stay still.
- Passengers do put your seatbelts slowly.
- You are going fast please do slow.
Emphatic Imperative is usually used in polite requests, complaints and apologies. Sometimes pronoun you is added to imperatives to emphasize the imperative or to show to whom the imperative is addressed.
