29 Be About + To Infinitive

Be about + to infinitive refers to actions that is going to be happen very soon.

Be About + To Infinitive cannot be used with time expressions. Use Simple Present when there is a time expression.

The structure of the sentence is as follows:
Subject + be about + to infinitive + complement.

  • I‘m about to have a surgery for my blindness.
  • He is about to feel dizzy because of alcohol.
  • They are about to show students a skeleton.

We use this structure for near feature and for the actions that are arranged. Sometimes it is used with just for the emphasis.
